Post Brexit: EU Member States to Formally Merge

From Express

EUROPEAN political chiefs are to take advantage of Brexit by unveiling their long-held plan to morph the continent’s countries into one GIANT SUPERSTATE, it has emerged today.

The foreign ministers of France and Germany are due to reveal a blueprint to effectively do away with individual member states in what is being described as an “ultimatum”.
Under the radical proposals EU countries will lose the right to have their own army, criminal law, taxation system or central bank, with all those powers being transferred to Brussels.

Controversially member states would also lose what few controls they have left over their own borders, including the procedure for admitting and relocating refugees.
The plot has sparked fury and panic in Poland - a traditional ally of Britain in the fight against federalism - after being leaked to Polish news channel TVP Info.

It is already almost a single country already, but at least they had SOME border controls, and control over their own military. Looks like Brexit happened at just the right time.

Gun sales surge among gays & lesbians

From Fox

DENVER -- Gun sales are surging in the wake of Sunday’s deadly mass shooting in Orlando, Fla. The tragedy is generating new debate over gun control reform and the right to bear arms.
Gun shops typically see a spike in customers after mass shootings. But this time, many are seeing shoppers they’ve never really seen before: More gays and lesbians.
George Horne, the owner of The Gun Room, Denver’s oldest firearms dealer, said Tuesday business is booming at his store.
"For this time of year I’d say its three to four times what we normally have," he said.
Background checks that once took minutes can now take hours. It's a sales surge similar to what happened after Sandy Hook and the Aurora theater shootings.
“We’re not surprised by it,” Horne said.
However, what’s different this time around is the clientele. Mike Smith, a firearms instructor in Colorado Springs, is one of many closely tracking the sudden surge in gays and lesbians buying weapons.
“I think right now because of what happened, people are looking for answers,” he said. “You walk into a gun shop and you expect to see people, frankly, who look like me. I think we forget we’re a country of all people, not just people who fit that predetermined mold.”
I am glad they are realizing that the progressive statists do not really care about them. The less support for gun control, the better.

We need Stupidity Control, not Gun Control

President Obama spoke to reporters Monday about the terrorist attack on the Pulse nightclub in Orlando and said Omar Mateen had a “Glock which had a lot of clips in it.”
Obama also said Mateen had an “assault rifle.”
According to CNN, the President explained that Mateen acquired his guns via a background check. And he explained that the background check did not stop Manteen “because he did not have a criminal record that in some ways would prohibit him from purchasing” his weapons.
Breitbart News has previously warned readers not to be fooled into believing background checks will prevent high-profile attackers from striking, and Obama’s admission is confirmation that background checks did not hinder Mateen in the least. Background checks only stop actual criminals, not latent ones.
More at Breitbart. I will let the stupidity speak for itself.

Orlando, Gun Control and Progressive Hypocrisy

The worst shooting in US history - and the bloodiest attack since September 11th 2001 - occurred at a gay nightclub. The attack itself could have been prevented, and it is certainly the symptom of political correctness run amok, but it also reflects the indifference of progressives.

Progressives are no friend of the gays. Most conservatives, while opposed to gay marriage, will tolerate them as long as they keep things private and in between consenting adults. Libertarians believe that the state should not be involved in any type of marriage. Progressivist attitudes toward gays has historically been hostile, with the Soviet Union sending gays to the gulag, the Hitler's National Socialists executing them and the Cubans performing experiments on them to try and "cure" gayness.

Even the cultural marxists see gays as a means to an end - usually as a voting bloc - and nothing more. Both economic and cultural marxists support the disarmament of citizens - both gay and straight - while simultaneously apologizing for violent jihadists and advocating open borders. Already, Hillary Clinton has called for disarmament, as well as democratic senators.

Presumptive Democratic nominee pledges to fight for LGBT community’s “right to live freely”
Hillary Clinton echoed President Barack Obama’s statements on Sunday, calling the Orlando mass shooting “an act of terror” and “an act of hate.”
The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee went on to blame easily accessed guns as part of the problem that led to the massacre, which left 50 dead and 53 wounded.
“We need to keep guns like the ones used last night out of the hands of terrorists or other violent criminals,” she said in a statement issued on Sunday.

David Petrarus & Mark Kelly Launch Gun Control Group

From CNN
Washington (CNN)Retired U.S. Army Gen. David Petraeus, who has long resisted calls to run for political office, is teaming up with retired NASA astronaut Mark Kelly to create a new group urging greater gun control.
The two announced on Friday that they were launching Veterans Coalition for Common Sense to encourage elected leaders to "do more to prevent gun tragedies." The group will feature veterans from every branch of the military who are urging lawmakers to toughen gun laws, the organization said in a news release.
"As service members, each of us swore an oath to protect our Constitution and the homeland. Now we're asking our leaders to do more to protect our rights and save lives," said Kelly, the husband of former Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and co-founder of Americans for Responsible Solutions, a group that advocates for tougher gun laws.

Another disarmament group would be unremarkable if not for the notoriety of the two men behind this one. The first is David Petraeus, also called "Betray-Us" by the progressives when he worked for the Bush Administration. As Obama's defense secretary, he leaked classified information through an extramarital affair he had with his biographer, and was punished only leniently. He is unfit to command a lemonade stand, much less dictate whether people can or cannot defend themselves.

Mark Kelly was denied the purchase of an AR-15 in an attempt to use the purchase for propaganda. He also committed a felony at a gun show in New York City.

A TTAG reader writes: “Mark ‘I wasn’t really buying that AR-15‘ Kelly is committing a felony right in front of New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. It’s against New York State (NYS) law for someone to be in possession (i.e. holding) a handgun without a valid NYS Pistol license. Mark Kelly can’t have a NYS pistol license because he’s not a legal resident of New York.” An Empire State firearms attorney told TTAG that there’s an exception for firearms training but, as far as he can tell, not gun shows. Unless we hear otherwise, under Article 265 of New York State penal law, Mr. Kelly’s committing a Class E felony. But wait! There’s more! Well, there would have been if Kelly hadn’t been pressed for time. “Kelly bought a book on Colt revolvers,” reports, “and said later he probably would have bought a gun if he had had more time.”

Kate Upton in Zero G [Repost]

I put this up before, but I saw an article in Dailycaller that brought it back to my mind.

"Some women, Commander Norton had decided long ago, should not be
allowed aboard ship; weightlessness did things to their breasts that
were too damn distracting. It was bad enough when they were motionless;
but when they started to move, and sympathetic vibrations set in, it was
more than any warm-blooded male should be asked to take. He was quite
sure that at least one serious space accident had been caused by acute
crew distraction, after the transit of a well-upholstered lady officer
through the control cabin."

State Department Commissions Superhero Cartoons For Pakistan

HT Weaselzippers

A Department of State program is soliciting pitches for an animated superhero TV show that would air in Pakistan.
The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) announced a grant award of no more than $1,250,000 for a two-season superhero show “to promote security and stability in Pakistan,” according to a government notice posted Wednesday.
“Key to this new character’s success will be that he/she possesses a local, indigenous persona, fully immersed in Pakistani culture,” the announcement stated. The show’s superhero character is intended to be a positive role model for youths between the ages of 14 and 25. The project description notes that more than 100 million Pakistanis — the majority of the country’s population — are under 25. Daily Caller
The State Department spends millions on cartoons, but it never hired extra security for the Consulate in Benghazi. Amazing priorities.

A cartoon fitting for Pakistan

Katie Couric Interviews from Fraudulent Gun Documentary being removed from Youtube

The Weinstein Company, which owns the distribution rights for 2014’s Fed Up, requested that two interviews at the center of accusations that the Katie Couric-produced and narrated documentary used deceptive editing be removed from Youtube.
Youtube documentation lists the takedown request as “manually detected” and made by the Weinstein Company. The Washington Free Beacon has initiated a counter-notification requesting that the videos be reinstated on fair use grounds since the videos are the subject of a news report. The Free Beacon has moved the videos to another video platform and reinserted them into the original story while the dispute is settled by Youtube.
The videos feature two interviews from Fed Up where the producers of the film are accused of unethical editing techniques. In one of the videos Dr. David Allison is shown stumbling during an answer and then pausing for several seconds before the film cuts to another interview, an answer to the question he was asked is never shown. Dr. Allison said he did provide an answer to the question and that Couric assured him he could pause to rework answers if he needed.
Too little too late for the gun grabbers. The truth about this is already out there for all to see.

Bernie Sanders supporters beat each other up

From Weasel Zippers.

Each group thinks the other are Trump supporters. Blind hatred corrupts the mind, body and soul, and consumes them. It will only get worse, especially when Hillary wins the nomination. They and the Hillary supporters feel entitled to the wealth and property of others, and they do not care how it affects others. After what happened at San Jose though, I cannot bring myself to wish for peace between these useful idiots.

Feminism: Anything But Empowering

Feminism is Misogynistic, just as War is Peace and Ignorance is Strength. While reducing girls to misandrist dykes or superficial sluts and turning them into safespace harpies, feminists join the chorus to silence critics of Sharia Law, and ultimately, the voices of its female victims.

D Day Dog: Bing

He must have looked a fearsome sight as he parachuted into the heart of occupied Europe.
His keen eyes scoured the battlefield for enemy troops and he was poised to hit the ground running.
It might not have been quite what the Germans were expecting from Britain's D-Day invasion force – but Bing the para-dog played a vital role in liberating France.
He was one of the first dogs to be dropped behind enemy lines with  British paratroopers.
From the moment the two-year-old Alsatian-collie cross put his paws on Normandy soil (albeit after a tangle with a tree) he was ready for action.
Anywhere there was trouble, even after he was wounded by mortar fire, he was there to sniff it out.
And when something didn't  seem quite right, he would freeze and point towards the danger with his nose.
During rest breaks, he kept watch over sleeping British troops; on the move, he pioneered the advance through potential danger zones.
His fearless excursions through perilous terrain and behind enemy lines were credited with saving hundreds of servicemen from ambush, later earning him the PDSA's Dickin Medal, the animal equivalent of the Victoria Cross.
Now, for the first time, Bing's story is being told through his own eyes – in a children's book written by a former paratrooper. The Amazing Adventures of Bing the Parachuting Dog chronicles his civilian and military career by recreating some of his wartime tales of doggy derring-do.
Bing, or Brian, as he was then called, was given to the Army at the outbreak of the war when rationing meant six-year-old Betty Fetch and her family, from Loughborough, Leicestershire, could no longer afford to keep him.
After a few practice runs back in Blighty, he leapt into action with the elite 6th Airborne Division over Normandy on June 6, 1944. Heavy anti-aircraft fire raked his plane, and history records that he needed an encouraging boot to propel him landwards.
But once on the ground he lived up to the  Division motto: 'Go to it!'

Crisis of Character: Hillary terrified Whitehouse Staff, even Bill

Hillary Clinton has a “Jekyll and Hyde” personality that left White House staffers scared stiff of her explosive — and even physical — outbursts, an ex-Secret Service officer claims in a scathing new tell-all.
Gary Byrne, who was posted outside the Oval Office when Bill Clinton was president, portrays Hillary as too “erratic, uncontrollable and occasionally violent” to become leader of the free world, according to advance promotional materials exclusively obtained by Page Six.
The allegations from Byrne, a 29-year veteran of the military and federal law enforcement, threaten to derail her campaign days before she is expected to clinch the Democratic presidential nomination.
He describes Hillary Clinton as acting friendly one moment, then raging the next.
“What I saw in the 1990s sickened me,” he writes in the intro of the book, “Crisis of Character: A White House Secret Service Officer Discloses his Firsthand Experience with Hillary, Bill, and How They Operate.”
The book claims she repeatedly screamed obscenities at her husband, Secret Service personnel and White House staffers — all of whom lived in terror of her next tirade.
Secret Service agents had discussions about the possibility that they would have to protect Bill from his wife’s physical attacks, Byrne writes, and the couple had one “violent encounter” the morning of a key presidential address to the nation.
Meanwhile, a paranoid Hillary Clinton tried to have the Secret Service banned from the White House and once tried to ditch her security detail, Byrne says.
“Hillary Clinton is now poised to become the Democratic nominee for president of the United States, but she simply lacks the integrity and temperament to serve in the office,” he writes.
Gary Byrne's book has shot to the top of Amazon's bestseller list, even before it's release. She has the personality type that she may attempt violence against the American people. If the failed siege on the Bundy Ranch is any indication, such adventures will almost certainly be doomed to fail, but it is still troubling that she made it this far.

There is nothing positive about her, and her attitudes toward victims of her Husbands advances mean that she is not the "everywoman" candidate she claims to be either.

Joanne Bolser, Teacher, Suspended Over "Racist" Math Quiz

This test has gotten teachers in trouble over the past two decades. It is humorous and entertaining enough to keep the students interested. Of course, the perpetually offended do not want people to learn.

From Dailymail

'There are 20 girls in his gang... What percentage has Tyrone knocked up?' Alabama teacher suspended for handing out racist math quiz featuring drugs, violence and prostitution to 8th graders

  • Joanne Bolser was reportedly suspended from Burns Middle School
  • A student in her eighth grade language arts class texted a picture of the test to his mother, who reported it
  • The test references Tyrone 'knocking up' four girls in a gang' and 'Pedro' serving six years in prison
  • Quiz is known as the 'LA Math Proficiency Test', which has been circulating online and getting teachers suspended since the early '90s
An Alabama middle school teacher has been placed on administrative leave after handing out a 10-question math quiz filled with references to drugs, violence and prostitutes to her eighth grade class.
Joanne Bolser was suspended after one of her language arts students at Burns Middle School in Mobile took a picture of the quiz and sent it to his mom, according to WPMI
Bolser is a longtime educator who is set to retire this year.
One of the questions in the quiz, known online as the 'LA Math Proficiency Test', refers to 'Tyrone' who 'knocked up four girls in the gang'. 'There are 20 girls in his gang,' the question continues. 'What is the exact percentage of girls Tyrone knocked up?'
Another references a drug dealer named Leroy, who 'sells an 8 ball to Antonio for $320 and 2 grams to Juan for $85 per gram'. 'What is the street value of the rest of his hold?' it then asks.
There are also references to 'Ramon' and his frequent 'drive-by shootings', 'Pedro' serving six years for murder, Desmond and his stolen BMW and Corvette cars, and Dwayne - who 'pimps 3 ho's'. 'If the price is $85 per trick, how many tricks per day must each ho turn to support Dwayne's $800 per day crack habit,' the question then asks.
Erica Hall, the mother who received a picture of the test from her son on Friday, said she couldn't believe it when she saw the questions.

Rodrigo Duterte [Philippine President] To the Philippino People: Shoot Criminals And I'll Give You A Medal

From AP

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — The Philippine president-elect has encouraged the public to help him in his war against crime, urging citizens with guns to shoot and kill drug dealers who resist arrest and fight back in their neighborhoods.
In a nationally televised speech late Saturday, Rodrigo Duterte told a huge crowd in the southern city of Davao that Filipinos who help him battle crime will be rewarded.
"Please feel free to call us, the police, or do it yourself if you have the gun — you have my support," Duterte said, warning of an extensive illegal drug trade that involves even the country's police.
If a drug dealer resists arrest or refuses to be brought to a police station and threatens a citizen with a gun or a knife, "you can kill him," Duterte said. "Shoot him and I'll give you a medal."

Seeing as we already have a foreigner for president, it is too bad we could not draft this guy into the Whitehouse.

Tiananmen Square

27 years ago, the Tiananmen Square protests were violently crushed by units of the Chinese military. The media loves to throw the term "peaceful protests" around, especially when the "protests" are actually mob violence incited and funded by political activists. The protests at Tiananmen Square were actually peaceful. Government terror like Tiananmen Square and others is why the founders wrote the 2nd Amendment.

This is a long article but this covers the crackdown in detail.

Trump Supporter Attacked as Onlookers Record [Edmund Burke Moment]

That woman has a lot of courage to stand up to a mob like that, but I cannot help noticing that everybody stood there recording her instead of helping her. The security guards even held the doors closed, preventing her from getting in (except that that one who did let her in after she got pelted several times). That mob could have easily beat her to death instead of just throwing eggs.

Joanna Palani: The Danish College Girl Who Fought ISIS

From NYPost
A young, beautiful and educated woman who dropped out of college so she could fight against the Islamic State has revealed how easy it is to kill militants.

Danish woman Joanna Palani relived her time with Kurdish-led forces in Iraq and Syria fighting terrorists and Syrian government forces last year.

In an interview with Broadly, Palani talks about how she left Denmark in 2014 in a “fight for human rights for all people.”

But in the brutally honest interview, the now-23-year-old said killing ISIS terrorists was not hard, although the better-trained Syrian government forces were a little more difficult to take down.
“ISIS fighters are very easy to kill,” she said.

“ISIS fighters are very good at sacrificing their own lives, but [Syrian President Bashar] Assad’s soldiers are very well trained and they are specialist killing machines.”

Accused War Criminal Works Security at Dulles Airport

From CNN
An accused war criminal living in the United States is now working as a security guard at Dulles International Airport near Washington, DC.
A CNN investigation found that Yusuf Abdi Ali, who is accused of committing atrocities while he was a military commander during Somalia’s brutal civil war, has been living a quiet life near the nation’s capital for about 20 years.
He is just one of more than 1,000 accused war criminals living and working in the United States.
In a shallow pit in northern Somalia, forensic anthropologists have been delicately digging around battered bones that were recently found in numerous mass graves. They're the remains of a clan slaughtered during the war in the 1980s, alleged evidence of the brutality carried out by the government regime in power at the time.
As a result of CNN's investigation, Ali has been placed on administrative leave.

Ali's employer Master Security has a contract with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) to provide unarmed security services. Ali passed a "full, federally mandated vetting process" that included an FBI background check and a TSA assessment.
However, when CNN initially asked Master Security about Ali, the company said it was "unaware of the pending litigation."
In light of the "very serious nature of the allegations," Ali is on administrative leave, and the company is reviewing the case, according to Chief Executive Rick Cucina. Ali's airport access has also been withdrawn.

This is the same federal government that, according to the statists, can vet the refugees from Syria and keep ISIS and Al Queda from infiltrating.

Brazil moves to shrink the state

From Financial Times
How do you shrink a government? That is a thorny political question anywhere in the world but especially in Brazil, which has traditionally favoured a bloated state.
Now, however, the new government of interim president Michel Temer is trying to tackle this issue as it grapples with a fiscal crisis that is threatening to unwind the country’s economic achievements of recent decades.
Mr Temer’s answer is as bold as it is unorthodox — a constitutional amendment to freeze for the foreseeable future public expenses in real terms at 2016 levels. If implemented, the move could help cure one of Brazil’s biggest ills — a spendthrift budget with constitutionally mandated expenditures that have led to constant increases in government spending. This has been exacerbated by a blowout in spending by the previous governments of the leftist Workers’ Party, or PT.
“I’m very encouraged by this,” said Raul Velloso, an economist and specialist on Brazil’s budget. “If we manage to do this, we will free ourselves of the possibility of future populist experiments.”
Brought to power after congress voted in May to begin impeachment proceedings against President Dilma Rousseff, Mr Temer and his supporters in congress have staked their rule on solving a deep economic crisis afflicting Brazil.
The economic dip was fanned by a fall in commodities prices but its ferocity is due to a crisis of confidence among investors in the ability of Ms Rousseff to restore Brazil’s sinking public finances after more than five years in power.

If the USA is any indication, future rulers of Brazil will probably ignore the constitution, but at least they are trying. It is too bad that every politician in the USA is spendthrift on something, whether it is social things or the military industrial complex or subsidizing the climate scare industry.

Stories from Venezuela

Houston Chronicle: The nation with the most oil is falling apart
The largest pool of underground oil in the world is just 1,400 miles south of the U.S. border, and the nation sitting on it is devolving into chaos.
Venezuela was always the most vulnerable country to a collapse in oil prices, and two years after prices started dropping, the country is in political and economic crisis.
The latest indicator is the decision by two major airlines to stop flying to the country. The largest airline in South America, LatAm, and Germany's Lufthansa said the government is refusing to release ticket revenues as part of a larger plan to keep foreign currency in the country.
For decades, Venezuela's economy relied on foreign currency flowing into the country in return for oil. The socialist government's budget relied on oil averaging $110 a barrel, but the price dropped below $30 earlier this year.
Inflation is so high that the government cannot afford to print more currency. Schools only operate four days a week, store shelves are barren and food riots are growing. Hospital patients are dying from simple illnesses because there are not enough medical supplies.
When people go hungry, they get angry. The socialist government can no longer deliver on its promises, and voters have elected a right-wing parliament. The two sides are increasingly relying on violent protests to further their causes.

From Telesur: Pro-Govt Supporters Being Killed in Record Numbers

Venezuelan authorities are conducting an internal investigation into the assassination of retired Army Major General Felix Velasquez, which is the latest case in a surge of killings targeting pro-government public officials and activists.
In recent months, Western mainstream media outlets have remained silent regarding the violence waged against government supporters, left-wing activists and public servants, which many believe is an attempt to undermine the future of the Chavista movement in the country.

High Profile Assassinations
March 2016: Socialist legislator Cesar Vera was shot in Tachira state. Vera was a member of the Great Patriotic Pole,a political coalition of parties aligned with the PSUV. A member of a Colombian paramilitary group was arrested in connection to the murder.
March 2016: Two Venezuelan police personnel were killed after a protest in a Tachira university turned deadly.
March 2016: Haitian-Venezuelan political leader and solidarity activist Fritz Saint Louis, 54, was shot dead in his home by masked gunman on Saturday evening.
January 2016: The well-respected journalist and prominent Chavista Ricardo Duran was murdered outside his home in Caracas. One suspect was arrested in connection to his murder.
March 2015: Local council member Dimas Gomez Chirinos, 47, was shot dead alongside his 20-year-old son, Eli David Gomez in the western state of Falcon, Venezuela. Gomez was also a member of the ruling PSUV. Three suspects were arrested in connection to the brutal killing.
May 2014: Rafael Celestino Albino Arteaga, 44, Vargas state chief of the Venezuelan Bolivarian Intelligence Service (SEBIN), was shot dead by an unidentified male assailant in a shopping mall in the western city of Maracay.
April 2014: Major Otaiza, a friend and ally of the late president Hugo Chavez, was shot dead outside the capital, Caracas. Otaiza was named direction of national intelligence early in Hugo Chavez's presidency. Following his death, Venezuelan Police arrested seven people in connection with the murder of the former public official.
February 2014: The high-profile killing of Robert Serra (27), a legislator of the PSUV, and the National Assembly's (AN) youngest parliamentarian, was found dead in his Caracas home. In December 2013, Serra was elected as a local counselor for the PSUV in the Libertadores area. An investigation revealed that Serra’s assassination was planned by paramilitary leader in Colombia, Padilla Mendoza.

DW: Armed squad kills 11 people in Venezuela
The Attorney General's office said the victims were in their homes in Andrés Bello in the northwestern state of Trujillo, when several armed men forced them to move into courtyards where they were shot dead.
The victims included adult males aged 18 to 76 and three teenagers aged 15, 16 and 17. The Colombian national was identified as 76-year-old Alberto Diaz Patino. The Spanish-language news agency EFE reported that all of the victims were male.
According to a statement, the suspects fled the scene in cars and motorcycles. Two prosecutors have been assigned to the case.
Unending violence
Venezuela is one of the most violent countries in the world that is not at war, with 58 homicides per 100,000 residents in 2015 according to prosecutors. In 2015 alone, there were 17,778 cases of homicide reported in the South-American country. The nongovernmental Venezuelan Violence Observatory says the murder rate is about 50 percent higher than the officially reported numbers.

NYT: Dying Infants and No Medicine: Inside Venezuela’s Failing Hospitals
BARCELONA, Venezuela — By morning, three newborns were already dead.
The day had begun with the usual hazards: chronic shortages of antibiotics, intravenous solutions, even food. Then a blackout swept over the city, shutting down the respirators in the maternity ward.
Doctors kept ailing infants alive by pumping air into their lungs by hand for hours. By nightfall, four more newborns had died.
“The death of a baby is our daily bread,” said Dr. Osleidy Camejo, a surgeon in the nation’s capital, Caracas, referring to the toll from Venezuela’s collapsing hospitals.
The economic crisis in this country has exploded into a public health emergency, claiming the lives of untold numbers of Venezuelans. It is just part of a larger unraveling here that has become so severe it has prompted President Nicolás Maduro to impose a state of emergency and has raised fears of a government collapse.

Veneuzela was supposed to be unicorns and rainbows, according to Sean Penn, Micheal Moore and Jimmy Carter. Where are they? They have millions of dollars that they could use to help the starving people. The fact that they will not shows them to be not only hypocrites but also cowards. Bernie Sanders is the first openly socialist person to run for president in the USA, but when asked about Venezuela, he redirects the conversation.
LEÓN KRAUZE, UNIVISION: I am sure that you know about this topic: various leftist governments, especially the populists, are in serious trouble in Latin America. The socialist model in Venezuela has the country near collapse. Argentina, also Brazil, how do you explain that failure?

BERNIE SANDERS, DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE: You are asking me questions…

LEÓN KRAUZE, UNIVISION: I am sure you’re interested in that.

BERNIE SANDERS, DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE: I am very interested, but right now I’m running for President of the United States.

LEÓN KRAUZE, UNIVISION: So you don’t have an opinion about the crisis in Venezuela?

BERNIE SANDERS, DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE: Of course I have an opinion, but as I said, I’m focused on my campaign.

The destruction of Venezuela has resulted from almost exactly the same chain of events occurring in the USA right now.

EPIX Stops Airing Fraudulant Documentary 'Under the Gun'

From Bearing Arms

Just two weeks after first airing and one week after director Stephanie Soechtig and executive producer/narrator Katie Couric were caught in a scandal where Soechtig replaced the answer to a question with footage shot at a different time, the streaming media channel EPIX has pulled their original film.

Update: EPIX claims that this was part of their original plan, but to have it removed so suddenly is still very shady.
Couric must be as bad of a negotiator as she is an ethical journalist to only have a two-week premium run for a high profile 2016 documentary on a topic that defines the single most striking policy difference between Democrat frontrunner Hillary Clinton, who is rabidly anti-gun, and presumptive Republican nominee, Donald Trump, who is staking out the position of being a strong supporter of the right to keep and bear arms.
Do you buy EPIX’s claim that they only had this movie about such a timely and important subject scheduled for a two-week run?
Me either.

Diamond Rain

From Techinsider

It sounds like a wacky fantasy, but scientists believe that it rains diamonds in the clouds of Saturn and Jupiter.
Diamonds are made from highly compressed and heated carbon. Theoretically, if you took a charcoal bricket out of your grill and heated it and pressed it hard enough for long enough, you could make a diamond. (Good luck with that.)
On Earth, diamonds form about 100 miles underground. Volcanic magma highways then bring them closer to the surface, providing us with shiny gemstones that we stick in rings and ear studs.
But in the dense atmospheres of planets like Jupiter and Saturn, whose massive size generates enormous amounts of gravity, crazy amounts of pressure and heat can squeeze carbon in mid-air — and make it rain diamonds.
Scientists have speculated for years that diamonds are abundant in the cores of the smaller, cooler gas giants, Neptune and Uranus. They believed that the larger gaseous planets, Jupiter and Saturn, didn't have suitable atmospheres to forge diamonds.
But when researchers recently analyzed the pressures and temperatures for Jupiter's and Saturn's atmospheres, then modeled how carbon would behave, they determined that diamond rain is very likely.
Diamonds seem especially likely to form in huge, storm-ravaged regions of Saturn, and in enormous quantities — Kevin Baines, a researcher at University of Madison-Wisconsin and NASA JPL, told BBC News it may rain as much as 2.2 million pounds of diamonds there every year.
he diamonds start out as methane gas. Powerful lightning storms on the two huge gas giants then zap it into carbon soot.
"As the soot falls, the pressure on it increases," Baines told the BBC. "And after about 1,000 miles it turns to graphite - the sheet-like form of carbon you find in pencils."
And the graphite keeps falling. When it reaches the deep atmosphere of Saturn, for example — around 3,700 miles down — the immense pressure squeezes the carbon into diamonds, which float in seas of liquid methane and hydrogen.
Eventually the gems sink toward the interior of the planet (a depth of 18,600 miles), where nightmarish pressure and heat melts the diamonds into molten carbon.
"Once you get down to those extreme depths," Baines told the BBC, "the pressure and temperature is so hellish, there's no way the diamonds could remain solid."
But before you start building a Jupiter- or Saturn-bound diamond-speculating ship with De Beers, keep in mind: All that crushing pressure and searing heat would destroy any Earthly vehicle long before it got close to those clouds full of sparkling riches.
Quite fascinating and fun to think about. Stories like this make me wish the USA more of a space program -- and one focused on space missions instead of climate change studies and muslim outreach -- without having to hitch a ride on Russian rockets.

The Alluring Art of Edward Robert Hughs

Yesterday, I posted about a prank that left several museumgoers in awe about a pair of eyeglasses. Along with it was an example of real art, a painting of a Valkyrie by Edward Robert Hughs. Here are some more.
